CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. World War II veteran and Chappaqua resident Gabriel Rosenfeld was recognized for his military service Tuesday night during a meeting of the New Castle Town Board.
Rosenfeld served three years in the Army, and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, French Legion of Honor Chevalier ribbon, European Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and more.
After his service, Rosenfeld served on the Westchester Planning Board and was also the Chairman of the New Castle Zoning Board for over 30 years.
I feel very lucky that I received such a great honor, Rosenfeld said. I would like to thank all of the service men and women that have served our country. It is so important that we do what we can to honor those that have served.
New Castle has been honored to call Gabby Rosenfeld one of our own for many years, said Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter. Gabby has been given too many awards to enumerate them all here. We have been truly blessed to have him here for all these years. We are proud to be able to nominate him for the [40th Senate District] Veterans Hall of Fame.
The 40th Senate District Veterans Hall of Fame is designed to honor outstanding veterans from the district. Each veteran that will be honored will be included on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the district.
