Chappaqua Home Burglarized

New Castle Police warned residents to be on alert after they announced that a burglary had occurred sometime between the hours of 8 and 11 p.m. on Wednesday evening at a home on Haights Cross Road.

The burglar gained access to the home through a bedroom window, taking jewelry from the bedroom, while the residents were in another part of the home. According to police, the residents were unaware someone had entered their home, until they became aware of the missing property. No arrests have been made.

On Tuesday, September 13 a netbook laptop and two chargers were reported missing from the Horace Greeley High School technology unit in the training room.

 

Also on Tuesday, police were alerted by a mother dropping off her child at a bus stop, of a man who had allegedly been driving by and yelling at the children and families to "move their bus stop to another area of town." Police found the man, who denied yelling at the families, and told police he was simply annoyed by the fact that the parents dropping of their children park their cars on both sides of the street.

 

On Wednesday, September 14, police reported an act of criminal mischief when they discovered a stop sign at the intersection of Spruce and Smith Streets had vulgar pictures of male genitalia spray painted on it.

 

On Thursday, September 15, the owner of Hilltop Wines and Spirits, located on King Street, allowed a woman to use the bathroom in the store at around 4:30 p.m. The store owner had allegedly left his wallet in the back room, located next to the bathroom. Today, the owner reported his license and credit card to be missing out of his wallet. He told police he believes it was stolen by the woman he allowed into his store to use the bathroom. The matter is still under investigation.
