Chappaqua Doctor Killed in Taconic Crash

PUTNAM VALLEY,NY--State Police say a prominent Chappaqua physician was killed Thursday morning after he was involved in a crash on the northbound Taconic State Parkway around 8:05 a.m..

According to officials, Dr. Qian Xie, was apparently heading to his practice in Fishkill when he lost control of his SUV on the rain-soaked Taconic State Parkway near Peekskill Hollow Road. 

Senior State Investigtor Brian Hoff said the vehicle struck a rock, careened across the road, slammed into the center guiderail and came to rest. Hoff said the the doctor was initially uninjured and got out of his car.

A second vehicle driven by 41 year old Christine Pearse of Yorktown rounded the curve, lost control and struck a rock wall before hitting Xie's car and crushing the doctor.

Dr. Xie was a gastroenterogist with the Digestive Disease Center, which has offices in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie.

The case remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
