The mixer was held at King Street Restaurant in Chappaqua and saw businesses of all shapes and sizes connect with each other, providing invaluable resources, chamber members said.

"Events like this allow for networking," Solveig McShea, Executive Director of the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce said. "They don't all know each other. It provides for new client referrals. All businesses in this area should know each other."

McShea said they try to hold these mixers every other month.

Catherine Lepone, who runs Making Headway Foundation, a Chappaqua-based charity, said she has found many local businesses to support her through mixers like this.

"You find businesses willing to give back and buisnesses willing to collaborate," Lepone said. "I've met so many great people. I am always looking for vendors and I prefer to use chamber people."

Nancy A. Shenker, president of the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce who runs theONswitch, said she has been able to bill more than $1 million thanks to making contacts with other business people at Chamber events.

"This is the value of good customer service," Shenker said. "At one of these mixers, I didn't know a soul and I just started talking to people."

Shenker said chamber events like this help build the spirit of cooperation among businesses.

"We are too small a town to be at odds with each other," Shenker said. "There's enough money for everyone to prosper."

Shenker said the chamber currently has 163 members. The Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce was started by Supervisor-elect Robert Greenstein.
