Carpenter Edges Kirkwood in Supervisor Race

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. - Susan Carpenter (D) appears to be the supervisor-elect for New Castle, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections.

With 100 percent of the election districts now reporting, the polls show Carpenter won 52 percent of the vote while her opponent Bob Kirkwood (R,I) won 48 percent. The two were separated by a total of 140 votes.

The rest of the voting confirms a clean sweep for the Democratic party. Elise Kessler Mottel won re-election for town board with 30 percent of the vote and Jason Chapin fills the other seat with 28 percent of the vote. Republican challenger Rich Diefenbach finished third with 25 percent of the vote and Rob Greenstein, running on the Transparency in Government line, finished last with 17 percent.

Douglas Kraus and David Zuckerman have been re-elected as town justices, with 39 and 37 percent of the vote, respectively. The challenger for one of their seats, Kevin Moore, took home 24 percent of the vote.
