FDR Library and Museum Director Paul Sparrow called Leuchtenberg our "greatest living Roosevelt scholar. He's written 15 books, with eight specifically on Roosevelt," Sparrow told Daily Voice.

"He has an ability to see through dates and facts, and see real things," Sparrow explained. "He understands, rather than just being a point of knowledge."

Leuchtenburg taught American History for 56 years at Columbia University, and UNC Chapel Hill, where he currently resides.
