Manley is a co-founder of the Making Headway Foundation, an organization dedicated to the care, comfort and cure of children with brain and spinal cord tumors.  The mother of four and grandmother of two has worked tirelessly with her husband to raise more than $6.5 million in donations to fund the programs, according to Ball’s website.

In March, Ball (R,C,I – Patterson) asked residents of his district – which includes parts of Westchester, Dutchess and Putnam counties – to submit nominations.

“While all those nominated have worked and volunteered without want of recognition, their efforts have not gone without notice or appreciation. The diversity and depth of their work speaks to the amount of time and dedication each has volunteered on behalf of and in support of a simple truth; that all change is local,” Ball’s statement said. “Each took it upon herself to respond to some compelling community need. These women did not wait or idle when the opportunity for real change presented itself. Instead, each used her own unique talents and skills to respond to an issue or challenge in her community that merited action.”

The Women Of Distinction Hall of Fame will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Putnam County Emergency Services Building in Carmel.  The honorees will also be included on a Traveling Wall of Fame that will be on display throughout the district.
