In the middle of December 2010, Lou Bastone, a former owner of variety discount merchandise stores in New York City, ventured up to Chappaqua another hardware store, Chappaqua Paint and Hardware on South Greeley Avenue.
I was always in retail my whole life so when I got the opportunity to get back into retail, I jumped into it. Bastone said. I love dealing with people and ordering what the customers need.
Bastone found out from a friend that this Chappaqua location, formerly a home decorating center, was for sale after being vacant for a year.
Business is OK, Bastone said. It hurt that this space was closed for year and that it was a home decorating center but were trying to win people back.
Bastones customer first-approach has earned his customers trust, especially with the wide variety of items he sells at his store.
You have to have your ears open to what the customers wants and listen to the needs of the community, Bastone said. Were here to serve the community.
The shelves are stocked with everything one could possible need in their home, from pots and pans to gas grills, car wax, light fixtures, Benjamin Moore paint as well as items to satisfy anyone's hardware needs.
Whatever we can do for you, however we can make your life easier, thats why were here, said Bastone who lives in Eastchester. Everyones needs are a little different but its all about what the customer wants.
Bastones store also sells gardening products and tools, socket wrenches, mailboxes, oscillating fans, and an abundance of all things a neighborhood hardware store might stock. Stop by the store on 59 South Greeley Avenue or visit their website at www.ChappaquaPaintandHardware.com , for all your household needs.
