Deborah A. Caserta, a Chappaqua social worker, died Oct. 5. at the age of 28. The cause of death is not immediately known.
Caserta was born Mar. 24, 1983 in Yonkers. Her early education was in the Chappaqua School District. She went on to graduate from Smith College with a Master of Social Work degree. During her coursework in 2007, Caserta researched and wrote a 60-page thesis on the prevalence of illicit drug and alcohol use in juvenile sex offenders.
Caserta became a supervisor and case manager at the Jewish Board of Family Services in Bronx, N.Y. A dedicated social worker, Caserta was said to have served her clients with care, compassion and deep devotion. She was known for her loving and gentle spirit, unique humor and kind heart.
Caserta is survived by her father John R. Caserta, her mother Maria C. (Massimi) Caserta, her sister, Christine Caserta and her grandparents Anthony and Eleanore Caserta.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John & St. Mary R.C. Church in Chappaqua. Interment will follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery in Yorktown Heights.
