CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. Chappaqua resident Steven Logan will serve as the corporate chairperson for the Arthritis Foundations 2012 New York City Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.
Logan, who is the New York area president for Aetna, will work with the foundations New York staff in raising awareness among other corporations and organizations. In addition to attracting additional sponsors and corporate teams, Logan has raised more than $25,000 for the event and will be running in the race with his team of friends and colleagues from Aetna.
For Logan, accepting the position of chairperson was an easy choice. All he had to do, he said, was look at the facts.
Arthritis is the nations leading cause of disability, said Logan. In New York, arthritis affects 4 million adults and 18,000 children. Those statistics speak to me and inspire me to be involved.
Funds raised from the charity walk will support medical research, community education programs and patient advocacy initiatives. Logan is a member of the Arthritis Foundations NY Chapter Board of Governors.
The charity walk will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 in Riverside Park. Individual runners and walkers, corporate teams and teams of family and friends are encouraged to participate, and medals will be awarded for the top finishers in several age categories. There will also be team awards, kids activities and The Dog Pen an expo where pet owners can get information about arthritis and pets.
