Armonk Student Raises Over $1k for Riverkeeper

ARMONK, N.Y. - Armonk resident James E. Fallon continued to support environmental group Riverkeeper last week in a town bake sale and raised $265 to bring his current total up to $1,422. His goal is to raise $2,000.

The bake sale was held in front of The Right Thing store on Main Street in Armonk and included baked goods courtesy of James E. Fallon, who is 10 years old, and his mother Kathy. Bea's Cakes of Armonk also donated baked goods to the sale.

Fallon reached out to Riverkeeper Director Paul Gallay for a school visit in June.

"I really like what Riverkeeper does," Fallon said. "They make our Hudson clean."

Fallon said he found Riverkeeper's work so interesting that he asked Gallay to visit his fourth-grade class at Wampus Elementary School last month.

Gallay spoke in the gymnasium to all fourth graders at the school.

“I want to get other people involved to keep the river clean, and I really have a passion about that,” Fallon said. “I admire Mr. Gallay because he has done such a great job.”

Riverkeeper is a member-supported watchdog organization dedicated to defending the Hudson River and its tributaries and protecting the drinking water supply of nine million New York City and Hudson Valley residents.
