'Skin Regime' Author Brings Tanning Mom To Westchester

MT. KISCO, N.Y. – “Sometimes some good can come out of a bad situation,” said Patricia Krentcil as she signed books and schmoozed with the throngs of people who showed up at Westchester MMA-Fit gym in Mount Kisco on Friday night for the launch of the new book, “The Skin Regime: Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin,” (Verve Productions, 2012).

Krentcil, more familiar as the notorious “Tanning Mom,” didn’t write “The Skin Regime,” but she’s playing an integral part in its roll out. The book was penned by Goldens Bridge author Dana Ramos as a no-holds-barred handbook about what really works to get age-defying, fabulous skin. The book lays out specific steps – what Ramos calls a “boot camp for beautiful skin” – and Krentcil has been recruited to go through the process and show off the results. She says it has changed her life.

“I don’t tan anymore,” Krentcil said. “[The boot camp] has completely lifted all the wrinkles. I love it. I absolutely love it. I am so happy.”

So far, Krentcil has completed four steps of the eight-step program and the progress has been startlingly noticeable.

“She looks good,” Ramos said.

The regime has been taped and put on YouTube and Ramos said the result has caused a national buzz about her book. She’s had visits from all the New York City news programs  and has been interviewed by journalists from all around the country, including The Huffington Post.

“When we first put the videos up [on YouTube] we got about 350 hits,” Ramos said. “Now it’s up to 3,500 in just two days. It’s going viral.”

On Friday night, Ramos and Krentcil stood behind a long table and signed books. Attendees could also pick up free skin-care samples and buy T-shirts sporting “The Skin Regime” logo. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the event are being donated to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Suzanne Carpentieri, a skin-care specialist from Bedford Corners, came to the event to learn more about Ramos’s philosophies and to meet Krentcil.

“I found out about all this through a blog I was reading and I got really interested,” she said. “I wanted to meet Patricia and pick her brain and find out what she was thinking. Actually, she’s much prettier than all the pictures you see in the papers and online.”

As a result of Krentcil’s association with Ramos, she will be starting her own line of tanning lotion.

“It’s going to be all natural with no chemicals in it,” she said. “It will have my picture on the bottle.”

Another installment of the “Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin” will be filmed for YouTube Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at the Cross River Pharmacy in the Orchard Square shopping center.

Krentcil said that when Ramos approached her about going through the boot camp, she wasn’t the least bit apprehensive.

“I wasn't skeptical at all,” she said. “I was thrilled to start.”
