Opening The Vault: Community Bank Celebrates Nine Years

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Founded during the financial crisis of 2008, The Westchester Bank knows how to manage money during uncertain times. Though much has changed since the Bank's inception, it has always remained loyal to Westchester and its customers.

After serving the community for nearly a decade, The Westchester Bank has made its mission to offer great service and maintaining strong local roots. "The meltdown of '08 really forced owners to re-engineer their business to increase profitability," said John M. Tolomer, President and CEO of The Westchester Bank. "So we were able to assist local businesses in reaching their financial goals first by listening to their needs and then providing the best banking solution to fit that need."

Tolomer, who joined The Westchester Bank shortly after its opening, understood that supporting the communities they serve was a key element in local banking. "I was fortunate to recruit a very strong management team that embodied the meaning of personal service," said Tolomer. "We have really been embraced by the business community, not-for-profit institutions and consumer sectors. As a commercial bank, we have the same products and services as the largest institutions, but because of our local roots are much better positioned to offer them in a more highly personalized manner."

Now with six branches located throughout Westchester, the Bank has been able to expand its footprint and offer the same services to a larger audience. "Our business plan includes adding a new branch every 12 to 18 months," said Tolomer. "We continue to experience strong, organic growth and we continue to reach out to a vibrant community of small to medium sized businesses, non-profit organizations and consumers here in Westchester County and the New York Metropolitan area."

With more businesses to serve and a larger customer base, The Westchester Bank remains focused on growing effectively and efficiently. "We want to provide clear and concise solutions to our customers' business needs," said Tolomer. "We work very closely with our customers and take great satisfaction in their growth and success because that success ultimately has a positive impact on the community and the Bank’s financial performance."
