What's Happening Around Chappaqua This Weekend

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Chappaqua Community Day and a varsity football match-up are some of the events happening around Chappaqua this weekend. For even more things to do, check out our events page .

Friday, Sept. 14

Library Card Sign-Up Party: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Students from fifth to 12th grade can bring their library cards to gain admission to the library's outdoor party. If students don't have a card, they can bring their printed school program, school ID, driver's license or parent/guardian with ID to get a card for free. 195 S. Greeley Ave.

Varsity Football: 6:30 p.m. Horace Greeley's varsity football squad will travel to Fox Lane High School for the rivalry match-up. Route 172, Bedford.

Menus in the Movies: 7 p.m. Local food author and film buff Carol Durst moderates a screening of "Nowhere in America."  Homemade desserts and discussion will follow. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Chappaqua Library and is free and open to the public. 195 S. Greeley Ave.

Chappaqua Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Church of St. Mary the Virgin, 191 S. Greeley Ave.

Chappaqua Community Day Blood Drive: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Greater New York Blood Program office in Elmsford partners with Chappaqua Rotary to staff the drive, and is hoping to raise up to 50 pints. Potential donors are encouraged to sign up in advance by calling 914-238-8444 or email John@ehrlichmedia.com. Chappaqua Train Station.

Bridge and Scrabble Club: 10 a.m. While bridge play is not for beginners, all levels are welcome for Scrabble. The club meets weekly and is free. Chappaqua Library, 195 S. Greeley Ave.

Chappaqua Community Day: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chappaqua’s annual Community Day will return to the Chappaqua Train Station. Chappaqua Library Director Pam Thornton said there will be rides for children, games, entertainment, food, free books from the library and information about services available to the community.
