Monday, Oct. 1

Bus Safety Week: Oct. 1 to Oct. 5 is school bus safety week in Chappaqua. Visit the Chappaqua Central School District's website for more information.

Informal Writing Workshop: 7:30 p.m. Bring short prose, poetry, ideas or simply a desire to write, to an evening of supportive feedback with fellow writers. This workshop is led by Joan Schulman and is free and open to the public. Stop by or call the reference desk at 914-238-4779 to register. Chappaqua Library, 195 S. Greeley Ave.

Tuesday Oct. 2

Coffee and Conversation: 9:45 a.m. All school community families are invited to join Lyn McKay, superintendent of schools, for some coffee and informal conversation The topic will be, "Objectives for the School Year." Roaring Brook Elementary School, 530 Quaker Road.

Medicare Update For The Open Enrollment Period: 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Flo Brodley from the Medicare Rights Center will present information on how to select a prescription drug plan and which is the right MA plan for you, plus a review of the Affordable Care Act and its impact on Medicare beneficiaries. New Castle Town Board work session: 7:45 p.m. New Castle Town Hall, 200 S. Greeley Ave.

New Castle Planning Board: 7 p.m. The board, among other agenda items, will hold a work session on the possible re-zoning of Chappaqua Crossing for retail use. New Castle Town Hall, 200 S. Greeley Ave.

Thursday, Oct. 4

Book Discussion Group: 7 p.m. Susan Zangler will lead a discussion on "A River Runs Through It" by Norman Maclean. Ask at the information desk for a copy of the book. The event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Chappaqua Library. Chappaqua Library, 195 S. Greeley Ave.

New Castle Justice Court: 7:30 p.m. Justice Court is in session every Thursday at New Castle Town Hall, 200 S. Greeley Ave.

Millwood Task Force: 8 p.m. The Millwood Task Force holds a meeting on the first Thursday of every month to discuss issues pertaining to Millwood and the West End. Millwood Fire Station No. 2, Route 134.
