Westchester Community College Presents Grow Conference For Business People

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Westchester Community College’s Gateway to Entrepreneurship Center will host its annual GROW Conference Friday, May 1.

The event in the college’s Gateway Center will bring together business leaders and features a variety of workshops and a keynote address by Tom Deierlein, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year and co-founder and CEO of ThunderCat Technology, a systems integrator specializing in data center solutions for the federal government. 

GROW brings together local professionals through networking, mentoring, business development and marketing sessions. Attendees will be able to tap into a network of like-minded business leaders, potential partners and resources, and hear from marquee-name professionals and innovators from Westchester and beyond. Registration for the event begins at 7:45 a.m.

Deierlein, a successful serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, will speak from 8:15-9 a.m. Deierlein is a nationally known speaker who covers a variety of topics in addresses to businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions. His firm recently was named as one of Forbes Magazine’s most promising companies. 

After Deierlein’s keynote address, there will be a full day of programming from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. The full schedule is available at www.westchestergrow.com.

Attendees will have access to a slate of workshops and panels centered on driving revenue, team building, increasing profitability, expanding networks and more.

Topics include “Jumpstart Your Business” workshops on how to begin a business, refine a business concept, and use business plan boot camp tips to succeed; “Accelerate Your Business” workshops that include From Customer to Brand Ambassadors, Speed Coaching and The Art of Closing a Deal; “Boost Your Marketing” workshops on social media and marketing on a shoestring; Fast-Tracking Your Financing and Legal Aspects workshops on access to capital, business structure, legal issues, intellectual property and B-to-B opportunities to meet with companies and government agencies to discuss contract opportunities.

Tickets to attend the all-day event, including the keynote address, lunch, and parking are $50 per person before Wednesday, April 15. After April 15, tickets are $75; tickets at the door are $100. Promotional tables are available for $250.
