Since 1991, the sale has been an important fundraiser and community gathering event for Teatown, helping to support its environmental education programs and protect the nearly 1,000 acres that now comprise Teatown Lake Reservation, the largest privately owned nature preserve in Westchester.

PlantFest will open its gates Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. for “First Pick” customers, $10 admission, who can shop while enjoying music, wine and local craft beer with “Small Plates” offered by Peter Pratt’s Inn.

Saturday’s PlantFest hours are 9 to 2 p.m., free admission, featuring Garden Conservancy Open Day tours of Wildflower Island, beekeeping demonstrations, and luncheon fare from Ossining’s Wobble Café for purchase.

In addition to Teatown’s plant sale offerings, special events planned for the venue will include Garden Conservancy Open Day tours of Wildflower Island on Saturday, a sneak preview of “Pondemonium,” the Giant Screen nature film being produced at Teatown by local Emmy-winning filmmakers Susan Todd and Andy Young and products from more than a dozen local vendors offering everything from herbal vinegars and honey to ceramics and wood products and even tool sharpening.

Excerpts of “Pondemonium” will be screened throughout both days of PlantFest. Reservations are required by May 5 for Garden Conservancy Open Day tours of Wildflower Island which are available on Saturday at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. To make a reservation, which will cost $5 per person, call 914-762-2912 ext.110. The hosts are seeking volunteers knowledgeable about annuals, perennials and native plants. If interested contact volunteer@teatown.org.

Two parking lots will be available for general parking. Handicapped Parking will be available in front of the Nature Teatown Lake Reservation. More information about Teatown is at this link.
