Pace Environmental Center To Be Honored At Friends Of Westchester Gala

PLEASANTVILLE – As Pace University kicks off its annual Earth Month celebration, the university’s Environmental Center on its Pleasantville campus will be honored by the Friends of Westchester County Parks on Wednesday, April 9.

The Friends of Westchester County Parks will recognize “the remarkable vision and leadership” of its members and supporters at the organization’s 10th gala to be held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

Honorees were chosen for commitment, dedication and support of the Friends and helping to make Westchester County Parks grow and flourish.

Pace University’s Environmental Center is being honored as the 2014 “Best Volunteer Friend” for being an active Adopt-A-Park participant, donating many hours of equity to the Bronx River Reservation and hosting numerous "Conversations on Conservation" events that bring science to the conservation practices of Westchester County.

The center’s longtime director, Angelo Spillo, will attend the gala to accept the award. Other honorees this evening include Al and Dee DelBello, Thalle Industries and Club Fit.

Throughout the month of April, Pace’s Pleasantville campus will celebrating Earth month and will have numerous activities to create awareness and knowledge related to the natural environment. Coordinated by the Pace Environmental Center, Earth Month features events and activities organized by departments, faculty, staff and students on campus.
