17-Year-Old Killed In Old Westbury Crash Between BMW, Bus

A 17-year-old was killed during a crash between a car and a NICE bus on Long Island.

The crash took place in Old Westbury around 2:50 p.m., Wednesday, March 9 on Glen Cove Road.

The male teen was driving a 2019 BMW southbound on Glen Cove Road in the vicinity of Hewlett Drive and crossed over the median, striking a NICE Bus, said the Nassau County Police.

The male bus driver, age 63, was traveling northbound on Glen Cover Road, police said.

As a result of the collision, the boy driving the BMW suffered severe head and body trauma, police said. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He is listed in stable condition, police said.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. 

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time and the investigation into the crash continues.
