The initiative organized by Tobacco-Free Kids is a nationwide event dedicated on educating students and others about the dangers of smoking anything.
“Anything you are inhaling that is not oxygen is a problem,” said Jackie O’Connor, a respiratory specialist at Northern Westchester Hospital.
The number of people who die from cigarette smoking each year could fill seven football stadiums, O'Connor told students.
Guest speakers and exhibits created by students about the toxins in cigarettes, tips to quit smoking, and breathing tests to measure lung capacity were featured at the event.
