Yorktown Teen Charged With Possession Of Alcohol In Sparkle Lake Park

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 16-year-old Yorktown male for violating a town ordinance prohibiting the possession of an alcoholic beverage in public.

Police responded to a call from personnel at the Yorktown Parks and Recreation Department reporting possible consumption of alcoholic beverages in Sparkle Lake Park on Tuesday at 1:41 p.m., officials report.

Following an investigation at the scene, the male, whose name is being withheld due to his eligibility for youthful offender status, allegedly was found to have possessed an open container of beer while occupying a vehicle parked in Sparkle Lake Park, police report.

The suspect was arrested and charged with possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place, a town code violation, according to police.

Following processing at the scene, the youth was issued an appearance ticket directing him to answer the charge against him in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, April 12, officials report.

He was then released on his own recognizance after a parent was notified, police report.
