Police responding to a report of a dozen or so people fighting in the 800 block of Prince Street last night tried interviewing those who didn’t scatter, but they “were not cooperative and stated that they were not involved,” Police Chief Robert A. Carney said this afternoon.

Officers searching for the others spotted Corrie Brown walking on Cherry Lane with blood on his clothing, so they talked to him — and noticed a box cutter in his waistband, Carney said.

They searched Brown and arrested him after finding 34 bags of marijuana and 39 Xanax pills without a prescription, the chief said.

Brown remained held on $5,000 bail today in the Bergen County Jal, charged with various drug possession with intent offenses, as well as two counts of weapons possession and one of carrying drug paraphernalia.

A Monday afternoon appearance in Municipal Court was scheduled.
