PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. Pelham Manor police arrested 28-year-old Marlon Scott of New Rochelle last week for drug and weapon possession.
Police charged Scott Sunday with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and false personation and second-degree criminal impersonation. Police also arrested him for an active felony assault warrant out of New Rochelle and an active criminal mischief warrant out of Yonkers.
Officers responded to a call late last Sunday night about two suspicious men walking up and down Wolfs Lane and looking in driveways. Police found them at the corner of Esplanade and Ely Avenue.
Officers noticed that Scott had what appeared to be, and later confirmed as, a stun gun clipped to the right, front side of his jeans and belt. Police told the men they received a call about two males who matched their description.
Scott told police that they were walking from New Rochelle to Mount Vernon and made a wrong turn, according to the report. Police then asked them for identification.
Scott produced a New York State driver's license with the name Jrell Amos Scott of 99 Union Ave. in New Rochelle, while the other man only produced a New York State benefit card. Police requested a warrant check on both men.
Police took the stun gun, arrested Scott and asked him if he had any other items in his pocket that could harm the officers. Scott denied this, but police found a locked open folding knife with the blade facing up in his right, front pocket.
Police also found a folded piece of white cardboard in the right, front change pocket of Scott's jeans. The cardboard contained two clear plastic bags filled with a white, chunky substance that police believed to be crack cocaine. Police searched the other man and found no weapons or drugs.
After learning the second man had no warrants, police gave him a ride to New Rochelle and released him without incident.
Police took Scott to headquarters, at which point he claimed his name to be Jrell Amos Scott. Police gave him false personation warnings and asked him for his real name, but he maintained that he was Jrell Amos Scott.
Officers then used physical markings, including tattoos, to identify the suspect as Marlon Scott. He admitted his true identity and told police he lied because he was worried they would find out about his warrants.
Police placed Scott into a holding cell to await arraignment.
