Eugene Friedman, 52, was arrested after allegedly pitching a fit at the Stop & Shop in the Goodwives Shopping Center in Darien on Sunday.
Friedman, a Stamford resident, entered the store with his young daughter to fill out a Western Union form at the customer service desk. When the supervisor asked for his identification, he gave it to her. But because he used the name "Gene" on the form, it did not match his name on the driver's license. He was asked to fill out the form again, which allegedly made him angry.
He started yelling and cursing. When he left the store, he threw flowers and plants onto the ground. Police said that as he was exiting, he was towing his girl behind him across a busy parking lot, not paying attention to her safety.
A group of Girl Scouts having a bake sale in front of the store witnessed the outburst. Employees identified his car, and police later tracked it to his house in Stamford, where they arrested him on charges of breach of peace, threatening and risk of injury to a minor. He posted $500 bond and will go to court June 22.

A bike was stolen from the westbound parking lot of the Noroton Heights train station June 7. The owner parked his $250 18-speed Schwinn bike in the morning and secured it with a chain. When he returned at 12:30 a.m. June 8, it was gone. He noticed cut chain on the ground where the bike had been locked up. He didn't report the theft until Friday because he was fatigued.
