Searching for Elusive WiFi in Hudson River Towns

Free Wi-Fi is about as rare as gold in towns like Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley and Hastings-on-Hudson. With that being said, there are a select few locations around town that offer the service. Here are some of the best spots in town to access the internet.

The local public libraries are usually the best place to start when looking for a public internet connection and the best part is that it's all free, whereas some cafés  require a purchase. The Dobbs Ferry Public Library is an ideal option as it has plenty of room for people to work in quiet. There is also a terrace outside open for the summer if someone likes to work outside. When asked what was the best part of the library's Wi-Fi employee Mike Egan was straight to the point.

"Consistency, it just seems to work," Egan said. "I've never gotten any complaints here about it not working. People come and ask if we have it and I say yes, they go upstairs and it seems to work."

Also in Dobbs Ferry, right down the street from the library is The Celtic Corner, an Irish pub that is a great spot to get work done while also grabbing lunch and a drink. The Celtic Corner is located on 73 Main Street.

If you'd like to surf while lunching, Tomatillo's in Dobbs Ferry offers Wi-Fi to its customers. The Mexican restaurant is located on 13 Cedar Street.

Starbucks is always a great place to look when searching for a free internet connection. The Dobbs Ferry Starbucks is conveniently located right off of the Saw Mill Parkway at 45 Stanley Avenue and offers a relaxed atmosphere with air conditioning to escape the heat while you work or play.

Ardsley also has its own Starbucks where people can come to utilize the free Wi-Fi connection. This Starbucks is located at 716-718 Saw Mill Road, near some of the great Ardsley restaurants and right off the Saw Mill Parkway exit.

The Ardsley Public Library is another area in town to stop in take advantage of the free internet connection. It is located at nine American Legion Drive. The library trend continues as the Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library also offers its own free Wi-Fi for everyone. The Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library is located at seven Maple Avenue.
