CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – In an effort to limit car accidents cause by distracted drivers, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association's (NYSTLA) has teamed up with the National End Distracted Driving campaign. NYSTLA attorney and Chappaqua resident Robert Greenstein will speak to 200 Horace Greeley High School students and parents to raise awareness of this critical issue on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
Greenstein will discuss how distracted driving is not only texting or using a cell phone, but also just a few seconds spent changing the music or reaching for a drink. All of these actions can cause a driver to lose control.
The distracted driving campaign was started by Pennsylvania trial lawyer Joel Feldman after his twenty-two year old daughter Casey was struck and killed by a distracted driver in 2009.
Trial lawyer associations from across the country, including Rhode Island, Indiana and Pennsylvania have joined the End Distracted Driving campaign to educate teens on safe driving. Nearly 50,000 students across the country have viewed the presentation.
