Dr. Dwyer will present on the evaluation of head injury in the emergency department; evaluation for associated injuries – spinal injury, facial fractures, and other trauma; when to obtain imaging of the brain; and understanding when injuries are more serious than a concussion.
This discussion, part of the hospital’s ongoing speaker series, will focus on sports and recreation-related brain injuries, specifically concussions, among children and adolescents. Parents, coaches and athletic trainers are all encouraged to attend.
Dwyer is board certified in emergency medicine, and is also chief of emergency services at Northern Westchester Hospital. Dwyer received his medical degree from State University of New York School of Medicine in Buffalo, N.Y., followed by Internship and Residency in Emergency Medicine.
