The event, sponsored by the Mental Health Association of Westchester and the Journal News Media Group, is called "Suicide Prevention: Connection, Compassion and Coping.”
The moderator will be Sean Mayer, the planning editor of lohud.com, who lost his brother to suicide last year.
Panelists will be Janine Crowley Haynes, Richard Klein, Rebecca Walkley and Barbara Bernstein.
Haynes, who survived a suicide attempt and is a Chappaqua resident, authored the book “My Kind of Crazy: Living in a Bipolar World.”
Klein’s son, Jeff, committed suicide more than four years ago. Klein, who lives in Chappaqua, blogs about the thoughts and feelings a family deals with after losing a loved one to suicide.
Walkley, a licensed mental health counselor and certified group psychotherapist, operates a support group for people who have lost a loved one because of suicide.
Bernstein works in several capacities at MHA Westchester including education and training.
The free event will be from 7-9 p.m. in the Chappaqua Library’s theater, but space is limited.
