CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – It’s a studio where delicious desserts have been made, but soon it may be just as widely known as a studio where precious works of art were made.
On Saturday, the sherry b dessert studio at 65 King St. is to unveil a mural painted on an exterior wall of the 1929 building it calls home, according to a statement from Sherry Blockinger, pastry chef and owner of the dessert studio.
The quarterly event is part of a months-long exhibition called OnSide Katonah that is running through Oct. 2 and has partnered the dessert studio with the Katonah Museum of Art, according to Blockinger.
The mural is to be painted by artist Keiran Brennan Hinton, whose work also is featured at the Katonah Museum of Art, according to Blockinger.
According to the chef, the mural project is benefitting from Chappaqua Paint and Hardware, which is donating the paint and other materials necessary for Hilton to complete his work. Another artist, photographer Noelle Marie, is to be on hand to photograph the unveiling on Saturday.
“The sb studio sessions series was designed to showcase the work of artists in the food world and beyond,” Blockinger said in the statement. “While my medium is food and Keiran’s medium is paint, we both seek to apply classic training in our respective fields to create something that the community can enjoy.”
