Feniger spoke to 25 youth club members about the world of broadcast media and tips for a successful career in radio.
“Careers in broadcast radio aren’t just for the deejays,” Feniger said. “The largest department in radio stations is the sales department, and it’s the highest-paid department because the sales team makes commission; they have no limit as to how much they can make.”
Feniger told students that if they’re interested in a career in broadcast, the most important classes you can take are in communications and public speaking.
“We’re in the communicating business,” he said. “We sell air (time), so you have to be able to speak well, use good diction – and you have to be yourself, creative, outgoing.”

“Our club members were so excited to get an inside look at radio broadcasting from a true field professional,” said Brian Skanes, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. “This discussion helped expose our young members to just one of the many possible career paths available for them to pursue in the future. They loved it.”
