Unfortunately, residents yearning for some good diner food will soon have to find a new spot when the longtime institution on Albany Post Road in Peekskill closes its doors after losing their lease.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the owners made the announcement that they had lost their lease and thanked their customers for more than 25 years of faithful loyalty.

"Thank you all for the memories you have brought to the Westchester Diner," they wrote along with the announcement.

They also thanked their staff, many who have been with the diner for decades.

"Without our amazing and dedicated staff, the Westchester Diner would not have been able to succeed over the years. We understand this is specifically a difficult part of the year to close, but this is the month our landlord gave us," the owners wrote.

They said they had tried to buy the spot for years without any success and that a new restaurant is slated to open when they close. A specific closing date has not been set.

They plan to keep their restaurants, Table 9 in Cortlandt Manor and Pastels Diner, also in Peekskill.
