The woman declined to give her name. People could be seen carrying various objects out of the building.

Le Chateau's building is a grand estate structure that is located on a hill off of Route 35 and commands a scenic view of the surrounding area.

The closure is not mentioned on the French-cuisine eatery's website or its social-media pages. Valentine's Day decorations remain on display at the restaurant's main entrance off of the road.

Le Chateau had been in business for more than four decades, having opened in 1973 under the Lozach family, according to a history section on its website, the notes that they came from France's Brittany region.

The estate, originally called Savin Rock, was built in 1907 by J.P. Morgan for Rev. William S. Rainsford, according to the history section. Later on, Fredrick Sansome was known to have entertained dignitaries from the White House on the property, according to the section.

Le Chateau remained in the Lozach family for a second generation, according to the restaurant, passing to Monique Jaffre Lozach as the owner.

The eatery also promoted itself as a venue for events that included weddings, corporate gatherings, bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs.

It is not clear why Le Chateau closed or what will happened next with the property.
