WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Communication technologies like email and text messaging very nearly killed off the business phone call during the last decade, but even as desk-top phones continue to disappear, the voice call is beginning to make a comeback, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Voice calls over computers allow for integration of text and voice along with the ability to transfer a call over to a smartphone if needed. The usability and convenience has companies fighting to increase market share in the $1.6 trillion office telephony market, The Wall Street Journal said.
